Bumble’s First Hand Knit Sock
I’ve tried to knit with double pointed needles for many many years and always gave up in frustration. Somehow, those skinny as a toothpick things always got the best of me and I had come to the conclusion that knitting with them was not for me.
That is when Jacque and I got together. Jacque is my antique circular sock knitting machine and between the two of us, we can knit up some pretty nice socks that fit and make one’s feet feel right cozy.
Well, I figured it was about time to give this double pointed knitting needle thing one last try before I pass on so that I could at least say that I gave it my best shot.
Maybe it was the colorful yarn, maybe it was the one last try, or maybe the moon was in the right phase–who knows?
Somehow, someway, things started going right and after about an inch or so of knitting I figured this sock thing on those double pointed thingies was going to work.
It did! Not only did it work, but I have one finished sock to show for it. Not bad for over thirty years of trying.
